The Weekly Playbook Review

The Most Valuable 20 Minutes of Your Week

A weekly playbook review isn't just about checking numbers. It's about deliberate practice — the kind of intentional, reflective work that actually produces skill development.

Most traders trade and hope for the best. Elite traders trade, review, adjust, and repeat. The review is the difference.

What to Review Each Week

1. Trade-by-trade review (10 minutes)

Go through each trade from the week. For each one ask:

• Did I follow my entry criteria exactly?
• Did I follow my exit plan exactly?
• What was the outcome in R?
• What would I do differently?

You're not judging by outcome — a trade can follow the rules perfectly and still be a loser. Judge by process, not result.

2. Setup performance (5 minutes)

Check the weekly numbers for each active setup. Is anything trending significantly in either direction? Note it.

3. Behavioral patterns (5 minutes)

Review the emotion tags from your trades this week. Do you see any patterns?

• Multiple "Revenge" or "FOMO" tags on the same day?
• Poor performance after a losing trade?
• Performance degrading in the afternoon?

The One Change Rule

At the end of each weekly review, identify one specific change to make the following week.

Not five changes. Not three. One.

Trading improvement is a series of small, incremental adjustments — not periodic overhauls. Trying to change multiple things at once makes it impossible to know which change produced which result.

Write your one change at the top of a journal entry. Read it before trading each day the following week.

Tracking Playbook Evolution

When you update a playbook entry based on your review, note the change and the date. Over time, this gives you a history of how your system evolved and why.

This documentation becomes extremely valuable if you ever revisit a setup that used to work — you can trace exactly what changed and when.
