Send an invoice that gets paid
A proper VAT-ready invoice — clear amount due, deposit already taken, payment details and a due date — in about two minutes. Won the job with a quote? It carries your details straight over. Then track it in Get Paid.
What a UK invoice needs
The word “invoice”, a unique number, your name and address, the client's details, a description of the work, the date and the amount due. If you're VAT registered it also needs your VAT number and the VAT shown separately — the builder adds those fields when you tick VAT.
Set a due date, always
“Payment on receipt” is vague and easy to ignore. A dated deadline (14 days is standard for trades) gives you a clear point to start chasing — and if the client's a business, it's the date statutory interest starts running under the Late Payment Act.
