Building Your Systematic Edge Report with Tradapt Data

Algorithmic & Systematic Trading Basics

The Edge Report: Your Monthly Business Intelligence

A systematic trader doesn't just track P&L. They track the health of their edge — whether it's consistent, improving, or eroding — across every dimension.

The monthly edge report synthesizes your Tradapt data into a comprehensive health check for your systematic approach.

The Seven Sections of an Edge Report

Section 1: Core Metrics (This Month vs. Last 6 Months)

| Metric | This Month | 3-Month Avg | 6-Month Avg | Trend |

|--------|-----------|-------------|-------------|-------|

| Profit Factor | | | | |

| Win Rate | | | | |

| Avg R-Multiple | | | | |

| Max Drawdown | | | | |

| Behavioral Mistake Rate | | | | |

| Rule Adherence % | | | | |

Declining trend in profit factor over 3+ months = edge erosion signal.

Section 2: Setup Performance Breakdown

For each setup:

  • Trade count this month
  • Win rate
  • Profit factor
  • Average R-multiple
  • Comparison to 3-month average

Which setups are improving? Declining? Stable?

Section 3: Regime Analysis

How did your strategies perform in each identified regime this month?

  • Trending regime: trade count, PF, average R
  • Range regime: trade count, PF, average R

Are you using the right strategies for the current regime?

Section 4: Behavioral Analysis

This month's behavioral metrics:

  • Behavioral mistake rate (%)
  • Most common mistake type (tag analysis)
  • Emotional state distribution (% at each level)
  • Correlation between emotional state and outcome

What's improving? What needs attention?

Section 5: Risk Analysis

  • Maximum daily loss (largest single-day loss)
  • Drawdown profile (when did drawdowns occur? After what events?)
  • Position sizing consistency (how often did you deviate from your formula?)
  • Daily loss limit breach count

Section 6: Market Regime Context

Was this a favorable or unfavorable month for your strategy type? If performance is down:

  • Is the market regime explanation consistent with the data?
  • Or is it a behavioral issue?

Section 7: Next Month's Focus

Based on all of the above:

  • One rule adjustment to implement (if data supports it)
  • One behavioral improvement to prioritize
  • Any strategy to pause or reduce size on

The 12-Month Edge Report Series

After 12 monthly reports, you have an invaluable document: a year of quantified evidence about your trading business.

At this point, you can answer with data:

  • What market regimes suit me best?
  • Which setups have improved and which have degraded?
  • What behavioral improvements have had the biggest measurable impact?
  • What are my consistent strengths that I should scale?

This is systematic trading at its most mature form — not just rules, but a continuously updated, evidence-based understanding of your specific edge.

Generating the Report from Tradapt

Tradapt's analytics provide all the raw data for each section:

  1. 1Export your monthly analytics summary
  2. 2Filter by setup for Section 2
  3. 3Filter by your regime tag for Section 3
  4. 4Filter by behavioral tags for Section 4
  5. 5Review risk metrics for Section 5

The AI weekly reviews provide qualitative context that complements the quantitative analysis.

Final exercise: Create your first monthly edge report using the template above. If you're just starting, Section 1 will have limited data — that's fine. The act of building the report structure and committing to monthly updates is the important step. Your edge report improves in value every month it's maintained.
